My work with children is motivated by the belief that children thrive when they feel understood with respect and appreciation, and when those involved in their care and education communicate and work together.
In my testing, consultations and therapy, I aim to see the world from the child’s eyes and to understand how each child learns, thinks, feels, communicates and relates to others. I work collaboratively with schools, special educators, speech language and occupational therapists, teachers, counselors and parents, both in learning about the child, and in sharing what I have learned and what can help. Most importantly, I take time to talk with each child about the things that interest and excite them, and make time for child-directed, informal activities such as art, science, nature, Lego and pretend play; for older children and teens, I take time to hear what interests them, what troubles them, and what they hope for themselves; we create, observe, wonder and learn together, which builds our relationship, the child's confidence, and my understanding of the whole child.
I look forward to working with you to help your child realize their potential.
Services I Offer
Consultations
Sometimes parents have concerns about their child but are not looking for formal testing or a full evaluation. I meet with parents for 1-3 sessions to talk about their concerns and observations, and discuss strategies and approaches that can help their children grow and thrive in school, in the family, and with their peers.
"You are amazing with children!! You made the whole testing experience so much more pleasant for my son. Your insights will help change the trajectory of his life in so many ways. I’m just so grateful to you!!"
"I’ve never read a report (and we’ve had many since he was 2!) that highlighted so many of his strengths, captured his personality and gave a sense of my son as a whole remarkable person along with the challenges, obstacles and reality of his current abilities."
